Esdevium Games the leading distributor for the Pokémon Trading Card Game presented us with a brief to supply a clamshell packaging solution incorporating a complete packaging procurement and packing service. The flexibility of our service gave Esdevium the flexibility to offer different packaging requirements for different high street customers and to manufacture stock using our new warehouse. They could then offer high speed delivery against wildly varying order patterns.
A generic clamshell platform was selected with 2 distinct pack formats. Once the clamshells were filled and sealed they had to be packed into shelf ready store packs in 2 variants – one with 6 clamshells holding the ‘theme packs’ and the other with 12 clamshells holding the ‘booster’ packs.
The shelf packs were designed with a large tab that sat across the top of the products for protection in transit and perforated at the top rear edge for easy removal by the retailer. The shrink sealed packs could then be transported without needing inner cartons. Retailers require the minimum effort and time to get the products on to the shelf. We also supplied printed inserts cartons, transport outers and all the production tooling for the clamcells and display trays was done in-house too.
